Brief
History of the Company
Nigerian Stockbrokers Limited ("NSL, The Company")
was incorporated as the first stockbroking firm in Nigeria on 26th
September 1960 . Prior to the implementation of the Nigerian Enterprises
Promotion Act 1972 (Indigenisation exercise) NSL was wholly owned
and managed by Financial Holdings Nigeria Limited (FHNL). Following
the Indigenisation exercise, the interest of FHNL was transferred
to some Nigerian citizens and associations. NSL is, therefore, a
wholly owned Nigeria company.
Legal Status
NSL was registered in Nigeria as a private limited liability
company under the companies Act, 1968. It obtained its Dealing Licence
on 2 nd May 1961 and thereby became the first registered Dealing
Member of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (The Exchange).
Authorised and Fully Paid-up Capital
The Authorised Share Capital of the Company is N104 million
divided into 104,000,000 Ordinary shares of N1.00 each all of which
are issued and fully paid-up. Institutional investors show a strong
presence among the shareholders and this has been one of the major
factors for the continued strength and stability of the Company.
