Gamaliel Oforitsenere Onosode, OFR, FCS, has had a distinguished career in the private sector of the Nigerian economy. Between 1957 and 1962, he worked at the Commonwealth Development Corporation. He worked variously at the Nigeria Housing Development Society (now Federal Mortgage Bank) Limited, Nigerian Industrial Development Bank Limited and Financial Holdings (Nigeria) Limited.
In 1973, he became the first indigenous Chairman & Chief Executive of NAL Merchant Bank Plc (NAL), which position he held until 1979. Mr. G.O. Onosode was appointed the Chairman of the Presidential Commission on Parastatals in 1981 the year after, he became the Chairman of Council, Nigerian Institute of Management.
In 1983, he was appointed the Presidential Adviser on Affairs and Director of Budget of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and in the following year, he was also made the Chairman, Federal Military Government Projects Review Committee. He was Chairman of the Nigeria LNG Working Committee for four years and was subsequently appointed, in 1989, the first Chairman of Nigeria LNG Limited. He is President, Association of Pension Funds and Investment Managers, Member, Board of Trustees, The Africa-America Institute and President, Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers.
Mr. Onosode who is the Chairman, Dunlop Nigeria Plc and Intercommerce & Consulting Associates Limited, was also Chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc for many years until 1993. He is a Director of several other reputable companies in Nigeria and is Chairman of the Global Missions Board of the Nigerian Baptist Convention. He has to his credit several publications and awards including honorary degrees.
Alhaji Garba Imam – Executive Director, Sterling Bank. Garba Imam was educated at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria; Birmingham University, Imperial College of the University of London and Ashridge Management College, all in the United Kingdom.
A seasoned banker with over 19 years cognate experience, Alhaji Imam was formerly at Chase/Continental Merchant bank, CMB Homes Limited, Visa Investments and Securities Limited and African International Bank Limited. He previously served on the Board of the Bank as a non-executive Director before joining the executive team. He was also a member of the Technical Committee of the National Council on Privatisation.
Before joining the banking sector, Alhaji Imam served in the Kano State Civil Service for 12 years, as an Administrative Officer and as Chief Monitoring & Evaluation Officer at the State Agricultural Development Project.
Mr. Murtala Biodun Dabiri – Managing Director, Sterling Capital Market Limited. He is a Chartered Accountant, Banker and Stockbroker with an in-depth knowledge of the Nigerian financial industry. A graduate of the University of Ibadan (1977), he has occupied various strategic positions in Deloitte, Haskins & Sells (Chartered Accountants) and NAL Merchant Bank Plc (“NAL”)
Mr Dabiri joined NAL in 1983 and later rose to the position of an Assistant General Manager and Head of the Bank’s Capital Market Group. He had earlier worked in various capacities in the bank, including Deputy Head of Credit & Marketing Department; Head of the Equipment Leasing Unit, Head of the Bank’s Kano Area office; and Head of Corporate Finance.
While at NAL, Mr Dabiri helped re-establish NAL as the premier corporate finance house in Nigeria. During his time, he masterminded some of the largest and most complex transactions completed in the Nigerian Capital Market, particularly those focused on raising equity capital and debt conversion techniques.
He left NAL in 1992 to establish Capital Consortium Limited, an asset management company and Security Swaps Limited, a stock broking firm that is a major player in the Nigerian Capital Market.
Alhaji Tajudeen Aminu Dantata – Director (NSL). Alhaji Tajudeen Aminu Dantata is the Group Managing Director of Dantata Organisations Limited. He is a graduate of West London University (1998) and Manaret College. He has served in various public positions such as Chairman, Kano State Tourism Board and Chairman, Kano State Housing Corporation.
Dr. Godwin Eronarieyere Okurume – Director (NSL). Dr. Godwin Eronarieyere Okurume is a banker with many years of professional experience. He holds a Ph.D in Economics and had worked in several places, some of which included Nigerian Agricultural Development Bank Limited where he was General Manager as well as Nigerian Industrial Development Bank Limited where he was a member of the Senior Executive Management.
Chief (Mrs) Opral Mason Benson – Director (NSL). Chief Opral Benson, B.Sc. M.A., Educationist and a businesswoman. She attended Morris Brown College, Atlanta, Georgia, USA; University of Pennsylvania, US and Pittsburg University, USA. She was at different times Teacher/Principal of Schools in Liberia; Chief Administrative Officer, Ministry of Agriculture, Commerce and Labour, Liberia; Assistant Secretary-General OAU Conference; Assistant Principal Registrar, University of Lagos; Chairman, Chic Afrique Organisation Limited since 1978. Member, Zontaa International Club; Member, National Association of University Women; President (Junior Organisation) and National Council of Women Societies. She is the pioneer Chairman, Johnson Products of Nigeria Limited.
Mr. Olatunbosun Adekoya – Managing Director – Mr. Adekoya has the combined experience in Corporate and Investment Banking. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Finance and Banking as well as Masters in Banking and Finance from the University of Lagos. He is an Authorised Clerk of The Nigerian Stock Exchange and also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers. He joined NAL Bank Plc in 1981 and has worked in various departments of the Bank and Nigerian Stockbrokers Limited. While in NAL, he worked in the Capital Market Department and as Head, Nigerian Stockbrokers Limited and Conglomerates Foods & Agriculture Group.
